The sunshine pierces my window pane
My mind is stabbed by the soaring flame
That kills the horrors of the night
Stumbling out of bed I let death ignite

I long for the days when life was kind
Innocence lost in broken days of youth

After weeks of drinking and denying my fate
I make the best of life, before it’s too late
Won’t let this disease define who I am
The treatments don’t work, they’re just a scam
So, I wander through town and I stop for a drink
A cup of black coffee and time to think
The bar girl asks ‘bout woman in my life
But no one wants to be a dead man’s wife
I step out of the bar onto the streets of doom

Think of a possible way to burn out not fade away
Escape the tortures of my everyday
In the kitchen with a knife in my hand
Standing at the station, focused and drenched
Not sure if I want to put my life to an end
Will smoke another cigarette as long as I can stand
I step out of this world and leave it all behind
It’s hard to go but it feels alright
